Andrew Whitley

Southern Combat NCAA Coach Coordinator

Andrew Whitley has been an assistant coach at Fairfield University since September, 2009.  Whitley’s primary responsibilities are working with the face-off men, assisting with the offense, as well as having a hand in the day-to-day operations of the program.  In 2011, Stags advanced the “ECAC Championship Game” before falling to eventual “Final Four” participant, University of Denver, 11-9.

Whitley came to Fairfield, after serving as an assistant coach at Yale for three seasons (2007-9), where he worked with the goalkeepers and defense.  He began his coaching career in 1997 at Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT as the defensive coordinator.  In that time the Cardinal defeated four top-20 teams and appeared in two ECAC Tournaments including the 2000 ECAC finals. Whitley also spent four seasons as an assistant coach at The Hopkins School in New Haven, CT.

Whitley earned a pair of varsity letters at Franklin and Marshall College, helping the squad to the schools third-ever NCAA Tournament berth in 1995.  He was a two-time All-Centennial Conference selection as a goalkeeper and still currently ranks in the top 25 in league history in save percentage and goals against average. Whitley played two seasons at Alfred University, advancing to the NCAA Tournament in each of those seasons.  Whitley graduated from Franklin and Marshall in 1996 with a B.A. in Sociology.
